Post "Spokeo" Standing
Spokeo v Robbins was a United States Supreme Court case in which the Court vacated and remanded a ruling by the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. The basis being that the Ninth Circuit had not determined whether the plaintiff had suffered an "injury-in-fact" when analyzing whether he had standing to bring his case to Federal Court.
The plaintiff originally alleged Spokeo, Inc., an online "people search engine" an information repository of public data, violated the FCRA, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, by containing inaccurate information.
The Court did not decide whether the Ninth Circuits conclusion, that Robins had adequately alleged injury, was in fact correct. This has lead federal courts interpretations of the standing to vary widely.
